Spindle & Hearth

At Spindle & Hearth, every piece is made by us or thoughtfully sourced from local makers we trust. We believe in the value of well-made things… objects created with care, intention, and respect for the time it takes to make them well.

Our work is rooted in traditional craft and contemporary living. We focus on creating high-quality, handmade goods at accessible prices, while maintaining a living wage and honoring the labor behind each piece. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is mass-produced.

These are goods meant to be used, lived with, and valued… made slowly, with purpose, and meant to last

Interested in something you don’t see? We take a limited number of commissions, and would love to setup a consultation to see what you have in mind!

Spindle & Hearth was founded by Thorin Skeesick as a way to share thoughtfully made goods and to help elevate the work of local artisans who value craft, care, and integrity in their making.

Originally from the West Coast, Thorin has long been drawn to working with his hands and finding meaning in the slow, tactile process of creating objects meant for everyday use. That sensibility continues to shape Spindle & Hearth in a belief that well-made things carry warmth, intention, and a quiet sense of luxury.

In early 2025, Thorin relocated to Esperance, New York with their long-time partner, Michael, drawn by the landscape, the pace, and the possibility of building a more rooted life and practice. Today, Spindle & Hearth operates out of Worlds End Farm, a place deeply aligned with these values of care, stewardship, and creative work. You can learn more about the broader work of the farm at worldsendschool.org.

All Spindle & Hearth goods are made by us or thoughtfully sourced from local artisans we know and trust. We focus on creating high-quality, handmade pieces at accessible prices while honoring the time, skill, and labor required to make them. Maintaining a living wage and working at a human pace are central to how and why we make what we do.

Our work is rooted in traditional craft, shaped by contemporary life, and guided by restraint rather than excess. These are objects meant to be used, lived with, and appreciated over time. Made slowly, with intention, and designed to endure….
